Slovenian e-vignette online — no sticker, no stop at the border

The e-vignette (e-vinjeta) is the digital toll permit for Slovenian motorways and expressways. It replaced the windscreen sticker: your right to use the toll network is recorded by DARS, the state motorway company, against your license plate number and country of registration, so nothing needs to be displayed in the vehicle.

Yes — every motor vehicle up to 3.5 tonnes, motorcycles included, needs a valid e-vignette before it enters a motorway or expressway operated by DARS. A few sections are outside the vignette system: the coastal H5 and H6 roads around Koper (since 1 January 2026), the H2 through Maribor, and the A2 between the Austrian border and Hrušica, which is covered by the separate Karavanke tunnel toll.

We are an independent intermediary — not DARS and not its official shop, where the e-vignette can also be bought directly. You choose the toll class, period and start date, enter your plate and country of registration, and pay the official vignette fee plus our processing fee; we then register the vignette with DARS for you. Standard processing takes up to 12 hours, Express processing from 1 minute to 2 hours, and the vignette confirmation follows by e-mail once it is registered.

A 7-day vignette covers the start date and the six following days; a 30-day vignette (cars and vans) the start date and the following 29 days; a 180-day vignette (motorcycles only) the start date and the following 179 days; a 1-year vignette runs until the day before the same date in the following year. Each ends at 23:59 on its last day. One exception: a 30-day vignette that starts on 31 January or in February of a non-leap year is one day shorter, because DARS issues it as a monthly vignette.

It depends on the height of the vehicle above the front axle, measured from the ground to its highest point directly above the axle. Under 1.30 m is class 2A: most cars, SUVs and pick-ups, and smaller vans such as the Mercedes Vito. At 1.30 m or more it is class 2B: larger vans such as the Fiat Ducato, Ford Transit, Mercedes Sprinter or VW Transporter. Vehicles registered as motorhomes are class 2A regardless of height, motorcycles are class 1, and a trailer or caravan needs no vignette of its own.

Plates are checked by cameras on the motorway network, at control points and by toll-control vehicles; DARS, the Financial Administration and the police all carry out checks. Using a toll road without a valid e-vignette is fined EUR 300 — and a vignette bought for the wrong plate number or the wrong toll class counts as no vignette.

Details such as the plate number or start date can be corrected only before the vignette's validity starts — write to support@vignetteexpress.com as soon as possible. Refunds are possible only before the vignette has been activated in the toll system, or if an order failed due to a technical fault on our side — once active, a vignette cannot be cancelled or refunded, in line with Slovenian toll regulations. EU consumers can withdraw from our service within 14 days, but only until the service has been fully performed; approved refunds are returned to your original payment method within 14 days.

No — under Slovenian toll rules the e-vignette is not transferable: it stays tied to the plate number it was registered for. If you change vehicles or get new plates, you need a new vignette for the new registration.
